What is CCTV intelligence, in plain language?

"AI on my cameras" sounds complicated, expensive, and like something that needs a specialist to run. It is none of those things. Here is the plain-language version.

A recorder versus a receptionist

An ordinary camera sees pixels and stores them. That is all. CCTV intelligence means the camera understands what it is looking at - "that is a person," "they are at the gate," "they do not belong here," "it is 2am" - and tells you.

Think of it as the difference between a tape recorder and a good receptionist. The tape recorder stores every sound in the room. The receptionist notices who walked in, and flags the one person who looks out of place - the things a tired pair of eyes misses. CCTV intelligence turns your recorder into that receptionist.

What it means for you, day to day

Instead of scrubbing through hours of footage after something happens, you get a plain-English alert while it is happening: "Unknown person at the east gate, 02:14." You can even ask it questions the way you would ask a person - "show me everyone who came in after 10pm" - and jump straight to the clip.

The camera stops being a thing you check after the fact, and becomes a thing that tells you.
